I am a Victim of Reliance Infocomm

I am creating this blogspot to bring to the knowledge of the whole world that Reliance Infocomm, a CDMA mobile service provider in India regularly cheats the consumers in one way or another to boost its profit.
Now to the details of how I was duped:

During Sep/Oct 2006, this company made an offer of a prepaid cdma handset model No. RD2710 of LG electronics for a price of Rs.1700/- with two years incoming free and 2000 minutes of free calls to any other Reliance Mobile.

On 14 Oct 2006 I purchased two of these handsets through one of their dealers in Chennai, India where I reside, for use within my family. At that time, as per the mandatory requirements, I submitted my photo and proof of residence.
After a week, the connections were de-activated under the pretext that my forms and photos did not reach their headquarters. I took up this matter with their dealer who requested me to provide another set of documents and photos and I complied with the same. Simultaneously, I asked the dealer to charge up my account with Rs.100/= so that I can make calls to mobiles other than Reliance.
It took them two more weeks to send somebody to make a personal visit to my place to cross check my particulars. I patiently waited for the lines to be activated, but only one of them was activated and the other was blocked. This time when I took up the matter with Reliance Web World, instead of the dealer, I was coolly told that my line was blocked because they have not received the proof of address!!! For a third time I submitted the required documents.
During all this drama, three months had lapsed. During Dec.2006, I made a complaint through their web-site, but no reply came. By Jan.2007, I located the mail id of their customer care officer and sent my complaint. I am now being informed that my status has now changed from being "blocked" to "inactive". The reason: My additional charging up has converted my account to a life-time prepaid and therefore I have to make monthly payments to use my handset. The earlier offer of two year incoming free has been withdrawn!!! All this comedy as unfolded for a person who never had a chance to use the handset after he bought it. If you are interested, I will furnish you copies of my email correspondence with them.
If Reliance Infocomm thinks that I am a damn fool willing to surrender the two years incoming free offer and pay them Rs.100/- every month, they are sadly mistaken. Now I have decided to cut down my losses and therefore I am not going to make any further payment to Reliance to use my mobile. I am creating this blog to inform the whole world about this unscrupulous marketing tactics of Reliance Infocomm.
Free Handsets

If any of you feel that this company has not taken me for a ride, you are welcome to air your views and I am willing to offer my handsets to you free of cost, as they are of no further use to me.
On the contrary if you feel that I am a genuine victim of Reliance Infocomm, then spread this message to others so that the awareness is created among the people of India about the fraud created on consumers. If you happen to know the contact address of Mr Anil Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Infocomm, pass on the following message to him.

Message to Mr Anil Ambani : Anil, such unscrupulous schemes will one day bring down your empire. Already you are in the news today for your attempts to spy on your business rival. If you do not care much about ethics in business, then please take my offer of the free handsets and sell it to some other gullible customer so that you can add more to your profits.

Initially I was tempted to take your offer of a free handset. But after reading your blog for a second time, I felt that it is not worth it to have a Reliance connection at all. These people will devise new ways to swindle customers.

Hey, sorry to hear of your problems. It really is so frustrating dealing with all of these service companies. The only way to solve your problem would be to find a contact as high up as possible. Only then will someone take you seriously. I had a problem with my broadband provider Tata Indicom, and it did not get fixed until I contacted the VP and MD's office. I do hope you can solve your problem. Best of luck!

You can add TATA Indicom to this cheats list. They also good at playing cheap tricks and many broadband users in Bangalore vouch for it.The problem with these idiots is they don't know the value of customers and they don't know how to respect customers. They forgot the fundamental business principle 'Customer is God'.
Still they are able to survive 'coz nobody going to complain in consumer forums and they don't have strong competitors to kick on their butt.Let's hope the landscape changes and indian consumers get justice to their money.

I am really sorry to read your plight. I do not know whether Anil Ambani himself is devising these tricks or if they are generated by his over-enthusiastic marketing team. Try to get the mail id of Anil Ambani and post your blog directly to him.
Let it serve as an eye opener for him.

Friend it's good that you have taken to fight this way. But there are other ways like approaching consumer court will definetly help you. Find out the local consumer court approaches and file a complaint with them.

Good luck.

PS: this experience is with every other operator not just reliance.

I too have been defrauded by the frauds and cheats who call themselves Reliance. Can you send me the mail id of Anil Ambani so that I can forward my complaint to him? My mail id is sarojesh@gmail.com.

Details of the fraudery and incompetence of Reliance:

I have changed the handset of my Reliance mobile number (9339836635) and have been defrauded by Reliance Webworld at Azimganj House in the following ways:

(a) although I did not want an extra pre-paid connection, I have been sold one for a price. The salesman had explained that this was free (even then, I didn't want it).

(b) my new handset is not operational, even after 6 hours of buying although I was assured that this would take 15 minutes. Later the salesman (Tel No: 9339656140) tried to imply that it was my fault that it wasn't operational!!

Therefore they are guilty of financial cheating and material harassment. Please take action against these frauds immediately failing which I will instutute appropriate civil and criminal litigation.

I have since then launched complaints with Reliance helpline, but close to 24 hours since I made the mistake of trying to buy something from Reliance, my problem is no closer to being solved. Anil Ambani runs a customer-unfriendly, inefficient, loathsome, dishonest, customer-killer company.

I also agree with you that Reliance is a big cheat. They have deactivated the services of my mobile number 9325087466 on the ground that I have not resubmitted the proof of identity and address. I have already submitted the required documents and filled-in the form on March 5, 2007. I was told the services would be activated within 72 hours. Till date, I am unable to use my mobile and any communication with Reliance in this regard is useless.

I am of the opinion that the name RELIANCE seriously needs to be changed as you can do anything with this company other than relying on it. I have also suggested to Reliance Infocomm that they should rename their Service Assurance Cell as Customer Harrassment Cell.

This is not my first bad experience with Reliance. Only because I have a CDMA mobile phone, I am not able to change the service provider. I too can offer my handset for free to Anil Ambani because it might be of use to him. If the services remain deactivated, the handset is nothing but a toy for me.

I had a Reliance Net connection data card (9312061180) which I
terminated last year on 12-Apr-2007 after paying all full & final and
received the Receipt of termination with Case Id: u8018328.
Even after termination I was getting bills intermittently for which I
complaint so many times to customer care, Web worlds & provided to
them the case id photocopy.
But this is really a shame on part of reliance that more after one &
half year of follow up & termination. Your gundas of reliance who are
acting as lawyers are harassing me for the payment.
I have been called by Bhargava (file#0128/C cell: 9717577652), A K
Sharma (File#DL237/08, cell: 9871578228), D K Mittal (Cell#
9899266865).
It's a height of customer harassment. Please tell me how long you want
me to keep suffering.
I have taken a pledge that I will never use reliance product in my
life & will try other also not to use reliance product. Do provide me
Anil Ambani's email id, he should know what you buggers are doing to
the reliance.

i had a reliance broadnet and landline connection which i disconnected in mid august 2009 and i agreed to pay the until my billing cycle came to an end and paid august bill but i received a bill in september, october and november for 2240, 3180 and 1106 respectively. I was eagerly waiting to see if they will send me a dec bill subtractin another 2000 and pay me 1000(kidding). But i was disappointed when i received a lok adalat notice asking me to pay instead. I went with all the bills to explain the comedy they had done and ask explanation for the same. But i was politely told by their rep that i can leave if i do not wish to settle. I left and am waiting for court notice. I might end up paying more than 1000 if i am called to court. But, i would rather do that than paying Reliance Communications simply for them to show profits. There were hundreds who were present in Lok adalat called by reliance. Airtel was present too but its side was almost empty. Anyways, ill keep you updated dude. Wish me luck in this case.

Hi,

I got a call from 1401359117 and after I received the call, amount got deducted from account. I had not pressed any key for any kind of downloading or for anything.

This is not only ridiculous, but very shameful on the reliance part to steal customer s money in the broad day light.

My number: 09590902468
Date: 27th Dec 2012
Time: 7pm

Dear Shankar. Don't leave these fellows to escape with the loot. Make a big hue and cry. Shoot a mail to the customer service and demand a reply. If it is not satisfactory( as it will always be with reliance, escalate the complaint to the appellate authority. Threaten them that you are going to complain to DoT and TRAI.

After all these fail, forward all the mails to Anil Ambani.

Good Luck.
